Denver’s future Fox Run Park is under construction, with early 2027 target
Construction is underway on the 13-acre Green Valley Ranch park, but the city has not published a progress report or all-in budget confirming the schedule.
Denver’s approximately 13-acre Fox Run Park is under construction in Green Valley Ranch, with construction completion targeted for early 2027 and the park’s opening planned shortly afterward.
The park will be near 47th Avenue and North Telluride Street, on a site bounded by North Walden Street, North Telluride Street, East 45th Avenue and East 47th Avenue. A Denver Parks and Recreation memorandum dated Aug. 19 says the city completed a vision plan in 2022, finished the final design in 2025 and had construction underway as of the memorandum.
The public record does not provide a construction-progress percentage or current milestone report, so the schedule cannot be independently confirmed as on track. No revised opening date or documented delay was found. The city’s project materials list construction from Jan. 12, 2026, through early 2027, followed shortly afterward by the opening.
Planned features include a playground, community garden, multi-use lawn, picnic areas, a pavilion, habitat garden, basketball court, interactive water features and an unpaved Discovery Path along the Derby Canal. The plans also include athletic fields, sports courts, walkways, irrigation and landscape improvements, according to Denver’s project and solicitation materials.
Denver awarded a $7,025,081 construction contract to ECI Site Construction Management Inc. in October 2025. The city’s solicitation estimated construction costs at $6.9 million to $7.6 million, while the project page says the first construction phase is supported by $5 million from the voter-approved RISE Denver GO Bond Program. Those figures cover the construction contract, estimated construction cost and bond contribution, respectively; no official source reviewed states an all-in project budget.
The park would convert land the city acquired in 2008 and maintained as open space into a developed community park with play, gathering, recreation and neighborhood landscape features. Denver Parks and Recreation says the project is intended to provide needed amenities for Green Valley Ranch.
The proposed name is still moving through the city’s legislative process. Bill 26-1261 was scheduled for consideration as a consent item by the City Council’s Parks, Art and Culture Committee on Sept. 1, 2026. As of Aug. 28, the Legistar record showed no recorded action or final approval, so the name had not been formally adopted. The committee agenda says the proposed ordinance would name the unnamed park “Fox Run Park.”
The proposal followed a community naming process and a recommendation from the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. A June 30 support letter from Councilmember Stacie Gilmore said more than 300 signatures supported the name; the Parks and Recreation memorandum later reported 361 valid signatures. The available record does not establish when the full City Council would take final action or whether it would approve the ordinance.
For now, early 2027 remains the city’s stated construction-completion target, but a firm opening date and explicit confirmation that the work is on schedule remain unavailable in the public record reviewed for this story.
