Arvada approves $9.57 million construction contract for Gold Strike Park redevelopment
The AeroJ Landscape and Design agreement covers planned recreation, habitat and trail improvements, with construction anticipated to begin this fall and finish by fall 2028.
The Arvada City Council unanimously approved a construction contract worth up to $9,569,751.60 Tuesday for the redevelopment of Gold Strike Park, advancing planned recreation, habitat and trail improvements.
The 6-0 vote approved Resolution R26-070 and authorized an agreement with AeroJ Landscape and Design Inc. for construction services. Mayor Lauren Simpson was excused from the Sept. 15 meeting, leaving the other six council members to vote, according to the council meeting record.
The city’s Gold Strike Park project page says construction is anticipated to begin in fall 2026 and finish by fall 2028. Planned improvements include restored meadows and nesting habitat, a wetland boardwalk, improvements along Ralston Creek, a pedestrian bridge, nature play areas, a bike playground, pavilions, lawns, trails, overlooks and expanded parking. The plan also includes interpretive art and creek and wetland features.
City project materials identify $7.3 million in federal Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership funding and a separate $750,000 Great Outdoors Colorado Community Impact grant as funding sources for the project.
