Castle Rock Fire and Rescue handled 346 more calls than during the same period last year, while August medic-unit responses increased 12.6%.
Castle Rock Fire and Rescue logged 5,145 calls through August 2026, 346 more than during the same period last year. Medic-unit responses in August rose 12.6% year over year, the department’s August monthly report shows.
The department handled 707 calls in August, including 428 emergency medical services calls. Medic units responded to 537 calls, up from 477 in August 2025.
The report also documented differences in medic response performance. Medic 154 had a 90th-percentile dispatch-to-arrival time of 8.9 minutes, compared with 9.1 minutes for Medic 155, 10.8 minutes for Medic 151 and 13.1 minutes for Medic 153. The department attributed Medic 153’s longer time to its extended response area, cross-station coverage responsibilities, incident locations and overall unit availability.
The department listed staffing plans among its ongoing projects. Four recruits entered the West Metro Fire Academy in August, two members began paramedic school, 10 members were cleared through the department’s basic life-support attending program and six more were in process.
Construction of Station 156 continued, with the retaining wall nearly complete, foundation site preparation underway and water tie-ins completed. The department continued to target completion in September 2027.
