Adams County sheriff’s K9 Moose dies after five years of service
The explosive- and firearms-detection dog joined the office in 2021 and also assisted with patrol searches, the sheriff’s office said.

Adams County Sheriff’s Office K9 Moose died over the weekend while out of state for training with his handler, Deputy Swartzendruber, the office announced Sept. 22.
Moose joined the office in June 2021 as an explosive- and firearms-detection dog. The office credited him with 120 deployments searching for explosives, firearms and shell casings, resulting in 26 evidence finds.
He also made 98 patrol searches, locating 107 people, and contributed to 49 arrests and 16 arrest assists. He made seven physical apprehensions.
