Commerce City Council removes five commission members over absences

Commerce City Council removed five members from three city commissions on Sept. 21, creating vacancies after finding they had at least two unexcused absences. The council’s action record lists the resolution as passed.
The resolution names Marco Vega of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Commission; Arron Hernandez of the Parks, Recreation & Golf Commission; and Remigio Arellano, Dana A. Ramirez Zamora and Harjas K. Thiara of the Youth Commission. It says the members had an opportunity to explain their absences, which the council continued to consider unexcused. The resolution declares the vacancies.
The city’s Boards & Commissions page lists Oct. 16 as the application deadline for its next quarterly interview round. It says applications for vacancies that have not been posted are held until an opening is published.
