Denver proposes $8.18 million contract for Tower Road sewer repairs
The first phase would repair and line sewer between 59th and 68th avenues; a City Council committee is scheduled to consider the contract Sept. 30.
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking City Council approval of an $8,178,294 contract with Insituform Technologies to rehabilitate the Tower Road sanitary interceptor between 59th and 68th avenues. The council’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is scheduled to consider the proposal Sept. 30, the legislative record shows.
The proposed Phase 1 contract covers eight point repairs and 5,974 feet of cured-in-place pipe lining. The work also requires excavations about 30 feet deep to replace manholes and pipe. The city’s bid notice estimated construction for this phase at $9.1 million to $10 million.
The contract would run for 180 days after the city issues a notice to proceed. The department says the existing 42-inch sewer, built in 1994 to serve Denver International Airport and future Tower Road development, is being rehabilitated to safeguard sewer service in the area. The project page describes anticipated construction impacts, including rolling, single-lane closures on southbound Tower Road, with the road remaining open to traffic. The work is also expected to involve heavy equipment and a few open-excavation locations.
