Amazon buys Aurora land; separate ALDI center planned in Arapahoe County

Amazon bought a 70-acre site in Aurora for about $23.6 million, and an application describes a proposed distribution center there spanning nearly 1.2 million square feet. Separately, the Aurora Economic Development Council (AEDC) says a planned ALDI distribution center has closed on land in Arapahoe County.
The Amazon application describes a one-phase project with warehouses, truck yards and related facilities, and estimates up to 1,200 full- and part-time jobs, Colorado Politics reported. Amazon characterized the project as being in “very early planning stages” in comments to 9NEWS.
In a presentation prepared for an Arapahoe County study session scheduled for Sept. 29, AEDC says Project Spruce closed on land for a future 600,000-square-foot ALDI distribution center intended to serve 50 stores. AEDC estimates the project would bring 217 jobs with benefits. The presentation does not identify the site address or give construction or hiring dates for either project. AEDC’s presentation also lists 1,000 to 1,200 estimated jobs for Amazon.
