Englewood DDA approves $14,137 grant for Sacred Grace improvements
The funding will help pay for exterior lighting, security cameras and outdoor amenities at the congregation’s site, which is undergoing renovation after more than a year vacant.
Englewood’s Downtown Development Authority approved a $14,137.88 grant to help Sacred Grace Englewood install exterior lighting, security cameras, benches, bike racks and planters at 333 W. Hampden Ave. The work is intended to improve security and add outdoor amenities at a site the congregation is renovating after it had been vacant for more than a year, the DDA’s Sept. 23 presentation to the board said.
The proposed work includes lights along the building’s north and west walls, cameras near entrances and main areas, three benches, two bike racks and four planters. The benches, racks and planters would be bolted to the ground.
The presentation also described a full interior renovation of 5,464 square feet, putting the project’s total cost at $171,138. It said the tenant and property owner would both contribute but did not specify their individual shares.
The DDA’s grant program guidance says applicants should be ready to start promptly and complete projects within a year. It strongly encourages applicants to occupy the property for at least three years from the grant award or payment, but does not make that a requirement in the presentation.
