Englewood parks bond update sets Emerson reopening, marks Cushing complete
Emerson Park’s reopening work is scheduled for Oct. 12-16. Miller Field remains on track while awaiting approval to use an earlier building-code cycle.

Englewood’s latest parks bond update lists Cushing Park as complete, schedules Emerson Park’s reopening work for Oct. 12-16 and says Miller Field remains on track while awaiting building-code approval, the city’s progress report says.
Voters approved the $41.5 million bond in November 2024 for improvements to eight parks, the Englewood Recreation Center and Pirates Cove Water Park. Most projects were expected to be completed in 2028, according to an earlier city progress report.
The latest update lists Cushing Park as complete as of April 2026. At Emerson Park, sod and landscaping repairs and contractor demobilization are scheduled for Oct. 12-16, with the park’s reopening planned during that period. A coffee gathering and ribbon cutting are scheduled for Oct. 17.
For Miller Field, approval to use the previous building-code cycle is pending. Englewood adopted the 2024 Building and Solar Ready Code in July, when the project was nearing design completion. Staff said redesigning the project to meet the 2024 codes would have placed undue time and financial strain on it.
