Rueter-Hess Labor Day visits nearly doubled, county says

Labor Day weekend visits to Rueter-Hess Reservoir nearly doubled from the previous year, and the number of anglers was about three times higher, Douglas County reported in its September recreation update. The comparison covers the holiday weekend, not the full year.
A separate August county update, with statistics updated Sept. 1, counted 66,256 reservoir and trail visits from January through August: 7,434 reservoir visits and 58,822 trail visits.
The September update says staff are developing solutions for a culvert and trail repair on Coyote Loop. It also says emergency boat-ramp repairs are being addressed to protect safe access and continued reservoir operations. The update gives no completion date and does not say whether the work is affecting visitor access.
