Denver’s Finance and Business Committee approved by consent Oct. 6 a proposed measure that would authorize property acquisition for Package 2 of the East Colfax CD8 Sidewalk Project. The work would add sidewalks where none exist and install accessible ramps, the committee’s minutes show.
Council Bill 26-1430 is scheduled for consideration on the Oct. 13 Mayor-Council agenda. That is a scheduled step, not a record of final City Council passage. The city’s request form for the proposed measure describes authority to acquire property interests through negotiated purchase or condemnation, and to negotiate acquisition agreements and payments.
The request form places the work in Council District 8, around intersections between East 13th Avenue and East Colfax Avenue, from North Quebec Street to North Willow Street, and on North Rosemary Street between East Colfax Avenue and East 16th Avenue. Property interests could include easements and access rights. The form estimates nine temporary easements totaling about 2,000 square feet; temporary access may be needed for contractors to stage equipment and complete the work.
