Broomfield City Council is scheduled to consider a $200,000 contribution Tuesday, Oct. 13, toward a planned bus pilot between Boulder and Brighton. The service is planned for weekdays in its first year, with weekend service added in the second.

The proposal, listed as consent item Resolution 2026-79, would send Boulder County $100,000 in each of 2026 and 2027. The city’s staff memo and proposed agreement identify the proposed funding source as Broomfield’s Capital Improvement Program. The 2027 payment is subject to appropriation, budgeting and availability of funds.

The contribution would support the starter service and initial marketing. Boulder County would lead planning and implementation, and the Regional Transportation District is expected to operate the pilot, according to a Boulder County summary of a May 1 Colorado 7 Coalition meeting.

The Colorado Department of Transportation projects the Brighton-to-Boulder service will begin in early 2027, run from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. every 30 minutes, and connect with regional routes including the Flatiron Flyer, FLEX and Bustang, according to its project page. Those details are plans, not a confirmed launch schedule.
