Denver’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved a resolution advancing an $11.27 million contract to replace exterior fire-suppression piping at the Colorado Convention Center. The October 7 action names Gerald H. Phipps Inc. and covers piping above RTD tracks and the Theater District station, as well as along Stout Street, the committee’s minutes record.

The proposed work includes dry-pipe sprinkler zones J1X through J6X and a supply line serving Zone Helix. The draft contract says Denver plans to use the Theater District station’s current closure to carry out the replacement.

The draft sets a guaranteed maximum price of $11,266,893 within a $12 million construction budget. It requires substantial completion within 147 calendar days after the city issues a notice to proceed. The contractor’s proposal assumes Stout Street would be fully closed during construction; that is a planning assumption, not a confirmed traffic plan.
