The proposals include a $2.53 million supplement for existing projects and $408,803 to design water-line redundancy and drainage improvements near the Allen plant.

Englewood’s Water and Sewer Board recommended that City Council approve a $2.53 million stormwater budget supplement for existing projects and $408,803 for design work on water-line and drainage improvements near the Allen Water Treatment Plant, at its Oct. 13 meeting.
The supplement would assign previously approved stormwater funding to the Old Hampden Utilities project and the stormwater portion of improvements at the city’s Service Center and Allen plant. Staff said the money would cover existing project costs, not start new projects. Work at Old Hampden is underway.
Utility conflicts and a sewer-line break delayed the Old Hampden work, staff said, estimating that the roads would take another four to six weeks to reopen. The project addresses a drainage bottleneck. The board’s agenda packet lists the supplement as $2,532,101.
The proposed design agreement covers a backup water connection to Pressure Zone 2 if the Bellevue transmission main fails, as well as drainage improvements near LePan. Runoff can pond there and flow between homes toward City Ditch. Staff said the LePan work would improve drainage in more frequent, lower-level storms but would not prevent flooding in every storm.
Staff estimated construction for the combined water-line and stormwater project would cost at least a couple million dollars.
