Commerce City’s proposed 2027 budget would temporarily lower the General Fund property-tax levy from 3.28 mills to 2.772 mills, with the city projecting about $5.4 million in property-tax revenue.
The budget resolution describes the 0.508-mill reduction as temporary and intended to comply with the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR). It estimates $5,392,295 in property-tax revenue under the city’s TABOR calculation. The budget’s revenue overview adds $3,474 in delinquent taxes, for a projected total of $5,395,769.
The resolution says the temporary reduction would not permanently lower the city’s authority to levy 3.28 mills. That rate would remain in place in future years unless the city affirmatively reduces it.
City Council is scheduled to continue its budget hearing on Nov. 2, 2026. A city council communication says staff anticipates a decision on adoption after the hearing closes.
