Englewood City Council voted 7-0 on Oct. 19 to approve a sixth amendment to the South Englewood Basin agreement, committing $600,000 from the city, matched by $600,000 from the Mile High Flood District, for future flood-reduction work. The council meeting recording documents the vote.
The amendment would bring the amount set aside at the district for future basin projects to about $1.581 million. That includes about $381,000 remaining after the district paid Englewood $8 million for the completed South Englewood Flood Reduction Project, the city’s amendment materials say.
The funding can support drainage and flood-control design, right-of-way acquisition and construction as funding becomes available. The work is tied to the city’s Major Drainageway Plan and Flood Hazard Area Delineation, which guide drainage planning and flood-hazard assessment.
The amendment’s estimated term runs from December 2026 to December 2027; that is an agreement term, not a construction schedule. The amendment calls for the contributions to be paid to the district after the agreement is executed and the district requests payment. The October packet does not identify a specific next project or construction schedule.
