A Broomfield staff memo estimates that at least 300 residents are currently experiencing homelessness. It also reports more than 16,000 unduplicated neighbors helped by Broomfield FISH in FY2026 and 7,976 participant visits to the Refuge Cafe so far in 2026, according to the memo in the City Council packet.
The memo accompanied a proposed Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week proclamation scheduled for the City Council’s Nov. 10 meeting. The FISH figure covers neighbors in need generally, not only people experiencing homelessness. Cafe visits count visits, not unique people.
Housing costs are one documented local pressure. In its FY2025 report, Broomfield FISH describes housing as the leading driver of poverty and need in Broomfield and says participants reported spending more than 75% of monthly income on housing expenses.
The city’s homelessness resource page lists Refuge Cafe services including lunch, showers, supplies, Wi-Fi and connections to local resources. It also describes Broomfield Cares mobile outreach, which provides supplies and resource connections on days the Cafe is closed.
