Denver committee advances $7.67 million Arts & Venues budget request

The proposed 2026 event-operations appropriation would cover higher labor, production, shuttle and security costs; the department expects event revenue to offset it.

Denver’s Finance and Business Committee approved Council Bill CB26-1611 by consent on Oct. 27, advancing a proposed $7,670,500 addition to Denver Arts & Venues’ 2026 event-operations appropriation. The bill’s action record records the committee approval. It was committee action, not full City Council passage.

The department attributed the higher costs to prevailing wages and strong event activity at its facilities, in its Oct. 16 request. Listed expenses include cleaning and janitorial services, theater production and stagehand support, shuttles, and event public safety and security.

The department expects event revenue to offset the added appropriation and says the request would not affect Denver’s General Fund.
