Denver’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved by consent Oct. 28 a proposed $820,000 contract to plant about 128 trees and install a permanent shade structure in Phase 1 of Sun Valley Riverfront Park. The committee’s meeting record documents the approval.
The proposed agreement with the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver allocates $120,000 for procuring, installing and maintaining the trees, and $700,000 for designing, fabricating and installing the shade structure. It identifies the City’s Climate Protection Fund as the funding source. The $820,000 is a maximum City payment subject to annual appropriation; it does not establish that the full amount has been appropriated or spent, the agreement’s scope and budget say.
The project would add tree cover and permanent shade for park users. The Mayor-Council agenda listed the proposal for City Council consideration on Nov. 3; the materials available for this update do not establish whether the council acted.
