Englewood Recreation Center is expected to close from Nov. 30 through Jan. 1 for water-line work, while patrons can use Malley Recreation Center during the shutdown, city staff told the Malley Center Trust Fund Board on Nov. 2. The work involves enlarging a water line in Englewood Recreation Center’s main hallway, and staff said the closure is needed for safety.
Staff outlined expanded hours at Malley, including 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Englewood Recreation Center staff helping cover the additional hours. Weekend and holiday hours were still being worked out, and the schedule could change if construction allows an earlier reopening. No classes are planned at Malley during the temporary arrangement, but Englewood staff and trainers are expected to help patrons there.
Staff said they would consult parking enforcement about possibly easing permit restrictions near Malley during the closure; no change had been confirmed.
