Arvada City Council voted 7-0 on Oct. 6 to adopt Resolution 26-074, approving a 2026 plan to guide accessibility improvements in city facilities, parks and public rights-of-way.
The city’s Americans with Disabilities Act coordinator said accessibility evaluations began in 2020 and identified barriers across those areas. Staff described the plan as a roadmap for coordinating improvements and incorporating accessibility into city planning, projects and operations.
Staff said geographic information system (GIS) tools would help document improvements, track remaining barriers and monitor progress. The tools could also support prioritizing future work, reporting and plan updates.
Staff are working with legal and other city employees on a possible structure and process for a city accessibility review group. The council would need to decide whether to establish the group.
