Denver panel advances non-financial agreement for Wynkoop Crossing bridge
Kroenke Sports and Entertainment metro districts would design, finance and build the planned bridge over Speer Boulevard, while Denver’s role is limited to the agreement and future easement conveyances.
Denver’s South Platte River Committee advanced a non-financial $0 agreement setting terms for the planned Wynkoop Crossing bridge over Speer Boulevard.
Committee records say Kroenke Sports and Entertainment Metropolitan District Nos. 2 and 3 would design, finance and construct the bridge. Denver’s role is limited to the agreement and a future conveyance of easements for the bridge landing area in Council District 9. The item was approved by consent, and minutes from the July 1 meeting show no recorded debate or opposition.
The $0 structure means the city is not paying the districts under the agreement. The committee materials do not spell out all maintenance or indemnity terms, but they do indicate the city is not financing construction.
Planning materials tie the crossing to the broader Ball Arena redevelopment, where it is described as a pedestrian link between Lower Downtown and the arena district. The committee record lists the agreement running to about April 29, 2029, suggesting the bridge is expected to be completed within that broader redevelopment timeline.
