Denver committee approves $7.08 million Sanderson Gulch agreement increase
The July 29 consent action raises the Mile High Flood District agreement to $22.17 million, with no change to its term; the record does not establish a new scope or funding split.
Denver’s South Platte River Committee approved by consent July 29 an amendment adding $7,077,956 to the city’s agreement with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, doing business as the Mile High Flood District, for Sanderson Gulch improvements in Council District 7. The amendment raises the agreement total to $22,166,098.74, the committee minutes say.
The record identifies the measure as Council Bill 26-1044 and says there is “No change to agreement term.” It documents committee approval only, not passage by the full City Council. The increase applies to the intergovernmental agreement total; it does not show that the city’s earlier $5,912,874 appropriation proposal was increased. That proposal would draw from the Wastewater Management Division’s Urban Drainage and Flood Control District Tracking Fund, the Mayor-Council agenda said.
Denver’s project page describes work between West Arkansas Avenue and West Florida Avenue, where the city says culverts are undersized for a 100-year flood. The planned work includes replacing the culverts, improving the multiuse path, upgrading the Arkansas Avenue pedestrian undercrossing and adding a Florida Avenue crossing to improve access to an elementary school north of Florida Avenue, the city says.
The page says the project is under design, with construction anticipated from spring 2027 through spring 2029. The committee record does not show a changed scope, new design milestone or different schedule, and does not establish whether the amended agreement covers only the Arkansas-to-Florida segment or a broader Sanderson Gulch package.
