Denver police identify Stephen McKenzie in North Denver stabbing that injured four
Police said Stephen McKenzie, 46, is being held for investigation of first-degree assault after four people were injured; no formal charge had been publicly documented as of Thursday.
Denver police identified 46-year-old Stephen McKenzie as the suspect arrested after a stabbing injured four people in North Denver. Police said Aug. 5 that he is being held for investigation of first-degree assault.
That designation is not a formal criminal charge or conviction. As of Thursday, Aug. 6, no booking record, court case information or formal charge against McKenzie had been publicly documented in the records reviewed, and no subsequent update from police or the Denver District Attorney’s Office had been found.
An initial police alert said officers found four victims in the 5100 block of N. Sherman St., all with non-life-threatening injuries. CBS Colorado reported that police believed the incident stemmed from a domestic disturbance. Before the arrest update, the station reported that the suspect was being treated at a hospital and was expected to be booked after his release.
Police had not released the victims’ identities or a later medical update. The investigation remains ongoing.
