Pedestrian dies after crash near 69th Avenue and Tower Road, Denver police say

A pedestrian died after being struck by a motorist near E. 69th Avenue and Tower Road in Denver, police said Sunday, updating an earlier report that the person had been seriously injured.

In a Denver Police update, police said the pedestrian had been pronounced deceased and appeared to be crossing outside a crosswalk when struck.

The crash was reported late Saturday. Denver police initially said officers were investigating a motorist-pedestrian crash in the area and warned drivers to expect delays. The post, published at about 11:17 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, did not identify the crash's exact time.

The Denver Post reported that paramedics took the pedestrian to a hospital, where the person later died, and that the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner would release the person's identity and cause of death. Police had not publicly identified the pedestrian or driver, and it was not clear whether the driver had been cited, arrested or referred for charges.
