Denver seeks approval for $11.38 million Acoma Street segment of 5280 Trail

Denver is asking the City Council to approve an $11.38 million contract with SEMA Construction to build a two-block segment of the 5280 Trail on Acoma Street between 10th and 12th avenues.

The proposed $11,383,076.41 contract would create a shared street designed to connect neighborhood destinations and open spaces. The project also includes public space for arts, culture, recreation and community events, including a green extension of the Denver Art Museum plaza, according to the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s contract request.

Vehicles would remain allowed in a 20-foot shared-street area. Removable bollards could close individual blocks during permitted events. The project includes designated bicycle parking.

The contract would run for 540 days after the city issues a notice to proceed. Denver’s Acoma Street project page says construction is expected to begin in fall 2026 and be substantially complete by the end of 2027.

SEMA was selected through a competitive process. The City Council’s meeting record lists Resolution 26-1310 for consideration by the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on Sept. 16. The available record does not show that the committee or council has approved the contract.
