Arapahoe County reports one West Nile case, plans fall flu and COVID vaccination clinics
The county’s Sept. 14 report said Colorado had 13 West Nile cases as of Sept. 2 and that county flu and COVID-19 vaccinations were expected to begin in mid-September, with walk-in clinics planned for October.
Arapahoe County Public Health reported one local West Nile virus case among 13 statewide as of Sept. 2 and said it expected to begin administering 2026-27 flu and COVID-19 vaccines in mid-September.
The department planned October walk-in vaccination clinics, particularly for people who are uninsured or enrolled in Medicaid, its Sept. 14 director’s report said. The report did not list dates or locations for those clinics.
Nine of Colorado’s 13 West Nile cases had neuroinvasive illness, six people had been hospitalized and no deaths had been reported as of Sept. 2, the report said. It did not identify the Arapahoe County patient’s condition.
The department also reported increasing COVID-19 hospitalizations and outbreaks in Colorado and Arapahoe County. Since mid-July, the county had recorded three confirmed and three suspected COVID-19 outbreaks, according to the report.
