RTD advances five-member committee for CEO search
The proposal goes to the full Board Sept. 22; the search plan estimates finalist selection in December and appointment of a new CEO in January.

RTD’s Executive Committee unanimously advanced a proposal Sept. 17 to create a five-member committee to select the agency’s next chief executive officer. The full Board of Directors is scheduled to consider the proposal Sept. 22.
The proposed committee would include all five Executive Committee members: Treasurer Karen Benker, Second Vice Chair Chris Gutschenritter, First Vice Chair Ian Harwick, Secretary Chris Nicholson and Chair Patrick O’Keefe. The committee’s action does not appoint the search committee or a CEO; those decisions remain before the full Board.
Under the search plan, the committee would review applications, select six to eight candidates for first-round remote interviews and recommend finalists. The full Board and newly elected directors would provide input during the process.
The plan estimates that finalists would be designated Dec. 4, interviews would take place Dec. 4-18, a CEO designee would be identified Dec. 18 and the full Board would appoint a new CEO Jan. 5, 2027. The dates may change, according to the plan.
