Denver approves $8.13 million increase for Cuernavaca Park facility contract
The vote raises the contract’s guaranteed maximum price to $9.72 million for Phase 2 construction and extends the term through May 19, 2027.
Denver City Council approved an $8,131,024 increase to Mark Young Construction’s contract for a new Parks and Recreation Northwest facility at Cuernavaca Park. The change brings the guaranteed maximum price to $9,715,164. The resolution passed 10–1, with Councilmember Gilmore opposed, the council minutes show.
The added amount covers Phase 2 construction, including remaining materials, labor and equipment for the office and shop building and site work. The contract amendment and construction estimates show the original $1,584,140 phase covered early purchases of the metal building systems and geothermal work. The guaranteed maximum price is a contract limit, not a report of how much the city has spent.
The amendment extends the contract term by 85 days, through May 19, 2027. Its attached construction schedule separately targets substantial completion and a certificate of occupancy for Dec. 10, 2027, after the contract term ends.
