Denver Council approves bill requiring youth commission seats in every district
The measure would require at least two youth commissioners from each council district and shorten their terms; it is awaiting the mayor’s signature.

Denver City Council gave final approval Sept. 21 to a bill requiring at least two youth commissioners from each of the city’s 11 council districts. The bill has not cleared the final step: Denver’s Legistar record listed it as “Awaiting Mayor’s Signature” on Sept. 22.
The bill text would shorten commissioner terms from three years to two, stagger appointments and allow members one additional term. The Mayor’s Youth Commission advises the mayor and city officials on youth-related matters and can recommend programs and policies.
