Denver seeks $8 million to upgrade seven airport passenger-movement units
The proposal would raise TK Elevator’s airport contract to $55.5 million. The department says the work would replace key components while preserving structures that remain serviceable.
Denver’s Department of Aviation is seeking an $8 million amendment to its contract with TK Elevator to modernize seven high-priority passenger-conveyance units at Denver International Airport. The department’s Sept. 17 request would raise the contract’s value from $47.5 million to $55.5 million. The department says the work is intended to improve reliability, safety and passenger movement.
Under the proposed Task Order 8, the work would replace key mechanical, electrical and safety components while retaining structural elements that remain serviceable. The department says this approach is more cost-effective than full replacement. The seven-unit phase would follow an earlier phase that the department says finished ahead of schedule.
The request says more than 330 airport passenger-conveyance units have reached or exceeded their expected service life and need upgrades or replacement. It does not say those units are unsafe. The contract runs through Nov. 17, 2028, and the proposed amendment would not extend its term.
The request does not identify the seven units or provide a schedule for the work.
