Denver’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved by consent Sept. 30 a $8,178,294 contract to rehabilitate the Tower Road sanitary sewer interceptor between 59th and 68th avenues, the committee minutes record. The resolution is numbered 26-1396.

The Phase 1 contract with Insituform Technologies covers eight point repairs and 5,974 feet of cured-in-place pipe lining. The contract request lists a term of 180 days after the city issues a notice to proceed.

The city’s bid notice estimated construction for this phase at $9.1 million to $10 million. The city says the existing 42-inch interceptor, built in 1994 to serve Denver International Airport and future Tower Road development, is being rehabilitated to safeguard sewer service.

The committee’s consent approval is not final City Council approval. Construction is expected to bring rolling, single-lane closures on southbound Tower Road while keeping the road open, according to the city’s project page.
