Denver proposes $11 million increase to Securitas security contract
The proposed amendment would extend the citywide guard-services agreement through September 2027 while Denver prepares a new solicitation with updated labor terms and a revised scope.

Denver General Services has proposed adding $11 million in contract capacity to the city’s security-guard agreement with Securitas, raising its stated total contract amount from $71.2 million to $82.2 million and extending it nine months, through Sept. 30, 2027.
The Oct. 6 amendment request says the extension would give the city time to prepare a competitive solicitation with complete information about rates and terms in the collective bargaining agreement between Securitas and Service Employees International Union Local 105, ratified in April 2026.
The city also revised the security-services scope after feedback from City Council, the union, the industry and an independent consultant. The revised approach could allow separate scopes to be bid separately, which the agency says is intended to encourage competition and small-business participation.
The proposed fifth amendment would align guard rates with the labor agreement, make a nominal increase to the security-vehicle rate and update background-screening requirements. The request lists General Funds as the funding source and Dec. 31, 2026, as the current agreement’s end date.
The request calls $82.2 million the “total contract amount” and describes the increase as added capacity; it does not provide a forecast of expected spending. The request is a proposal, not an approval record.
