Denver City Council passed a bill Oct. 26 authorizing the city to seek property interests for missing sidewalks along an East Colfax project segment. The bill was included in a final-consideration block motion that passed 11-0, according to the official Council meeting record. The Legistar matter page lists the bill as awaiting the mayor’s signature.

The bill covers 39 parcels, numbered TE-1 through TE-39, from Willow Street west to Quebec Street, between North 16th and North 13th avenues. It describes installing missing sidewalks to connect neighborhood destinations and open spaces in Council District 8, as set out in the bill’s project description and parcel list.

The measure allows the city to negotiate purchases and acquire property interests, including permanent or temporary easements. If the city cannot agree on compensation, or other conditions specified in the bill apply, it authorizes the City Attorney to pursue condemnation under Colorado law. The bill grants that authority; it does not itself acquire property.

The Finance and Business Committee approved the bill by consent on Oct. 6, the committee’s minutes show.
