Denver Councilmember Lewis has proposed two budget amendments to fund a new Denver Dayworks program: $530,000 over two years or $780,000 over three years for Denver Economic Development and Opportunity (DEDO) to issue a request for proposals. Both options would shift money from budgets for graffiti, Keep Denver Beautiful, Finance and Housing Stability.

The two amendments are listed for a Nov. 2 City Council event.

Under the two-year option, $38,354 would come from the graffiti program and $11,646 from Keep Denver Beautiful. The proposal would also reduce Finance and Housing Stability services-and-supplies budgets by $240,000 each. The amendment would transfer the $530,000 to the Employer Recruitment, Training and Retention Program special revenue fund and add the same amount to DEDO’s program budget.

The three-year option proposes the same combined $50,000 reduction to graffiti and Keep Denver Beautiful, with $365,000 reductions to each of the Finance and Housing Stability budgets. The second amendment would transfer and budget the resulting $780,000 for DEDO’s program.
