Aurora’s Urban Renewal Authority is designing a road extension and bridge that would give the 13th Avenue Station property and a neighboring site a second way in and out. Construction is tentatively projected to run from late 2027 through 2029.
The proposed Dylan Way extension would cross Tollgate Creek, connecting the RTD-owned station property north of the creek with the Bach Homes property to the south. The station site now has access only from 13th Avenue, while the Bach Homes property has access only from Dylan Way, an authority manager said at an Aurora Planning and Zoning Commission study session. The bridge is intended for vehicles and pedestrians.
Design is underway. The infrastructure site plan was submitted in September, and right-of-way negotiations were reported complete. The manager said she hoped design would be finished in 2027, with construction potentially starting late that year and continuing through 2029; those dates are tentative.
The authority described the cost as “about $8 million plus,” but said the exact amount was not yet known. It reported $5 million in upfront matching funds and two $2 million grants. Most of the first grant had been used for planning, and work under the second was just starting, according to the presentation.
