Arapahoe County commissioners unanimously approved a two-year select-source waiver for a Shiloh House contract for youth respite services at a June 22 study session.

County staff said the contract covers short-term respite beds for youth ages 8 to 17 and that the county now expects to use about two dedicated beds instead of five as the program returns to its original respite-care purpose rather than higher-acuity or longer-term placement.

The contract is capped at up to $287,500 for one year and no more than $575,000 over two years, with staff telling commissioners federal and state funds would cover 80% of the cost and the county the remaining 20%.

Staff said the waiver was required because the agreement exceeds the county's $100,000 purchasing-policy threshold for select-source contracts.
